Wal-Mart Fined for Overcharging Customers

California Walmart customers are set to receive $2.1 million in refunds after the California Attorney General’s office finds that Walmart has continued to overcharge its customers. Back in 2008, the California Attorney General’s office investigated Walmart for charging customers a higher price at the cash register than what was advertised on the shelf. The result of that investigation was a judgment that ordered Walmart to immediately refund customers $3 off the lowest price advertised if the price at the cash register didn’t match up to the ads. If the product is under $3, the customer gets the product for free. But when investigators checked on Walmart’s compliance with the order, they found that Walmart was still overcharging its customers, resulting in new fines and penalties of $2.1 million and extending the refund program until November 2013. So, when shopping at Walmart, make sure the prices it charges you match the advertised prices or immediately bring it to the attention of the clerk to get the discount.

I was price matching and thought my bill was way high but with picking up Christmas items i figured i lost track of how much i spent. Upon reviewing my receipt i found that my yogurts which were 20 for 10.00 were rung in at 3.90/yogurt. A loaf of 1.99 bread was rung in at 11.99. Not to mention a pair of clearance socks marked 2.50 were originally 1.00! So off i go to get 100.00 back from overcharges!!
