Drakes Bay Recalls Shucked and In-Shell Raw Oysters

On Saturday, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) advised customers to avoid eating certain shucked and in-shell raw oysters from Drakes Bay Oyster Company. The oysters may be contaminated with vibrio parahaemolyticus, a bacteria that can cause vomiting, cramps, headaches and chills.

After three illnesses were reported, the oyster company voluntarily recalled their shucked oysters labeled with lot numbers 363 through 421. The CDPH advises consumers to throw away affected oysters immediately.
