Kellogg’s Recalls Popular Cereal due to Metal Fragments

Kellogg’s is recalling their Frosted Mini-Wheats Bite Size and Unfrosted Mini-Wheats Bite Sizecereal after metal mesh fragments were found inside the cereal. Both the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Kellogg’s are currently investigating the cause and believe a faulty manufacturing plant is to blame.

A total of 7 products from the Mini-Wheats Frosted line are affected while only 2 from the Unfrosted line are affected. Products with a “Best by Date” of April 1, 2013 to September 21, 2013 are included in the recall. A full list of all recalled items and UPC numbers is available on the official Kellogg’s webpage.

Kellogg’s recently released a statement to the Wall Street Journal regarding the recall. In the statement, they assure the public that they are at a low risk for any injury or sickness due. Consumers are still upset and many have taken to different social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube to voice their concerns. One consumer posted a YouTube video where he runs a small magnet through the cereal and a fair amount of cereal is picked up.

Consumers with affected products or who have questions about the recall should contact the company directly.
