Kellogg’s Recalls Special K Cereal Due to Presence of Glass Fragments

Kellogg’s is recalling their Special K Red Berries Cereal due to the possible presence of glass fragments found inside the cereal.  The company initiated the recall as a precautionary measure after sample testing confirmed the cereal was contaminated with glass pieces.

Kellogg’s has reported no injuries in connection with this recall. The recall affects 36,000 boxes of Special K Red Berries cereal sold nationwide in three different sizes.  Special K cereals affected by this recall include:

  • 11.2-ounce retail packages; UPC code 38000 59923
  • 37-ounce  warehouse packages; UPC Code 38000 20940
  • 2.4-ounce twin-packs; UPC Code 38000 78356specialk

This is the second recall Kellogg’s has issued due to the presence of foreign materials inside a cereal product. In October, we blogged about the company recalling their Frosted Mini-Wheats cereal after a faulty manufacturing plant caused metal mesh fragments into the cereal.

Consumers who have purchased any of the three recalled Special K Red Berries cereal should contact Kellogg’s for a replacement coupon.
