Consumer Fraud Investigation: Does VistaPrint Overcharge Customers for Shipping on Products?

An acquaintance recently shared with us his experience with purchasing business cards from VistaPrint through the company’s website, He needed the business cards to arrive before an upcoming conference, so he paid VistaPrint a premium for “Priority 7 day” shipping. However, the business cards did not arrive within 7 days and he was forced to purchase another set of business cards locally to take with him to the conference.

When the VistaPrint business cards finally arrived, nearly two weeks after purchase, he discovered that VistaPrint had shipped the cards to him using a “standard” or “ground” service, which costs significantly less than the “Priority 7 day” shipping for which he had paid. In addition, despite paying VistaPrint several dollars in shipping/processing charges for a “free gift” VistaPrint offered with his purchase, the “gift” arrived via U.S. Mail in an envelope with first class postage worth approximately $0.75.

Our acquaintance’s experience suggests VistaPrint may be unfairly and illegally overcharging its California customers for shipping on products purchased through the company’s website. We are currently investigating these potential violations of law. If you are a California resident who has experienced these or any other unfair business practices when purchasing products from, please call Khorrami Boucher Sumner Sanguinetti, LLP for a confidential
