Sara Lee Recalls Coffee Cakes due to Undeclared Ingredient

Sara Lee is voluntarily recalling 4,000 pounds of their Streusel Coffee Cake due to an undeclared allergen which is not listed on the product’s ingredient list.

Sara Lee Streusel Coffee Cakes fail to list pecans as an ingredient on the product’s label. Like other types of nuts, pecans can cause severe allergic reactions to those who are allergic to them. People who are allergic to pecans could have serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.

The company has received no reports of illnesses associated with this product. The Sara Lee Coffee Cakes were distributed nationally and have a best by date of “Oct. 16, 2013.” The product can also be identified with UPC number 3210002342.

No other Sara Lee branded products are affected by this recall. Consumers may return the affected product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
